I think losing this election has finally shook free my shock at losing my job last week. I feel inconsolable.
I guess what is the most frightening for me is that we on the left brought every single thing we had into battle, and we still lost. Resoundingly. My stomach just knots every time I look at all of those red states. And when I think of the Bush supporters gellfully strolling around this morning, so pleased that they have a mandate for their brand of bigotry and spite... Ugh.
Every ballot initiative against gay marriage passed easily. The Rs control the House and the Senate. Supreme Court Justices are dropping like flies. It's the nightmare scenario. Bush got more votes than any President in history. I just don't see how my fellow Americans and I will ever see each other's point of view.
People all over the world are sad about this.
I want to say some cliche thing about rising from the ashes or having to hit rock bottom. But really, I just want to cry, too.
