The Midwife's Tale by Gretchen Laskas

I loved this book. I' have a mini-obsession with books about midwives and books about Appaachia, so it's no surprise that I found it compelling. However, iy also has a strong storyline and a great sense of place. Good, non-intrusive use of dialect as well, which can be tricky. I really loved the relationship between the main character and her mother. I sopped this book up in one sitting, which is high praise.
