Ladder of Years by Anne Tyler
Anne Tyler's novels are like Sunday afternoons. I mean this in the best possible way. I had a terrible, hungover weekend and reading this book at lunch was like a little nap--restorative and thoroughly enjoyable. I especially like to read her work after I haven't done so in a while, because otherwise it can feel a little reptitive, thematically. Still, she's really an amzing author and her "same old, same old" is better than most writers' best efforts.
